Validity and rules for DIN:

  • If a person wants to become a director in new company, then DIN is to be applied through SPICe plus form,
  • If a person wants to become director in existing company, then the application is to be made through DIR-3,
  • Any changes in DIN application have to be made through DIR-6 form before completion of DIN allotment procedure,
  • The validity of DIN number is for a lifetime and only one DIN is allowed per person,
  • Any person can use the provided DIN for being a director in multiple companies,
  • DIN can be cancelled by Ministry of corporate affairs (MCA) or Registrar of Companies (ROC), if any violation of laws or guidelines is detected by them.
